One Text Kills in a Heartbeat

In Mass Media today, our teacher showed us a video about what happens when you text and drive. I had already seen the video once before in College Career Readiness class, though still paid the attention it respected. This is an important message that needs to be spoken of to not only teens, but many adults alike.

One story that really got to me was when a girl sent a text while she was driving on the freeway. Her car flipped over to the side of the road and she even flew out of her car into a ditch during it. Her family and friends were celebrating what would have been her nineteenth birthday. However, one important person was missing from the occasion. It was the victim.

Another thing that scares me about this subject is that it doesn't only refer to teens. Adults nowadays have even started to sneak little texts here and there to their kids while driving. You are supposed to be an example of not to do this, and yet you do. Why can't you just text your kids before you leave or after you've arrived at your destination? This applies to you as well, teens.

If you want to help prevent yourself from dying or getting critically injured, here are some personal tips that might help.

1. As well as sending a text message, drinking can also lead to car crashes. So if you're 21 or older, drink responsibly and don't drive. Make sure you have a designated driver with you who will be drinking less or not at all.

2. Set boundaries on your phone use. Only use it when you are not driving.

3. Call or text someone before you leave in the car. If it is really an emergency, pull over to a gas station or some other area where you're car won't be moving, such as a rest stop.

Don't text and drive. It can wait.

5 Countries I'd Visit (List 1)

5. Italy

Italian food is one of my favorite types of food! Imagine going to a place where you'd be surrounded by it! However, Italy has more to offer than it's casual pasta. I feel it would be a blast to take a ride on one of the boats down the little waterways they have going through the cities. Beautiful lights gleam at night, illuminating the water. I also feel that the Italians would be very laid back and easy to get along with.

4. Scotland

Scotland is rich with history! I would love to go visit the various castles they have over there! Even though I don't know much about this country, I would love to learn more about it. As a fan of Hetalia Axis Powers (it's an Anime, look it up), one of my latest favorite characters is Scotland! However, he never seems to make an appearance in the show at all! How sad is that? Plus, I just find Scottish accents to be cute!

3. Japan

Wow, this country must be surprising to be so low on my list! The girl who loves Anime almost more than anything puts this country at only number three? How dare she! Well, while I do love Anime as passionately as the next, I'm not super crazy about going to visit. I think I'd get tired of being surrounded by Anime more than I need. I'm already too into it. However, what really got my attention about Japan was simply its gorgeous scenery! Cherry trees are among my favorite types of trees! Japan is practically decorated with them! Also, the huge Mt. Fuji in the background completes the scenery!

2. England

This was going to be number one on my list at first, but I slid it back to number two. Why would I want to visit a country that's already practically America's twin? When I say that, I mean England speaks very similar English of course. That is the reason why exactly. I don't want to have to learn a new language to go visit a country! I want to be able to feel comfortable knowing that the people already speak the language perfectly; maybe even more clearly than Americans! Remember, the British brought English to America pretty much when it first was colonized! I can go up to someone and great them like I would someone from America; with a simple 'Hello.' Also, I love British accents more than any other! They sound like cotton and sugar together! So, cotton candy?

1. New Zealand

Holy crap, this country is freaking beautiful! Plus, it makes sense I put it just above England. Both countries practically speak the same language! Also, one of my all-time favorite movie trilogies, "The Lord of the Rings", was filmed here! Based on the scenes from the Shire I've seen in the movies, I would find anyone who didn't want to visit here crazy! I would love to run all around the beautiful hills of this vast country's land! Maybe I'll even wear a hobbit costume.

POST MAKEUP FOR FRIDAY (1/25/13)

I want to put this outfit together! Perhaps some of you could give me suggestions? The character is the country of Hungary from Axis Powers Hetalia.

How bored was I this weekend?

So I missed school on Friday due to getting sick with God only knows what. I don't even know what it was. The 24 hour bug maybe? I slugged around at home the whole time and it was awesome.

Anyway, I had been role playing with a friend on Facebook all weekend. I also had been looking at random videos over the weekend and came across two videos that are similar. One was how to speak with a Scottish accent and the other an Irish accent.

I actually took a look at both videos and paid very close attention. I learned a bit, but nothing spectacular.

I had also found a video about how the British I-Phone has troubles with Scottish accents. Some dude was going around having Scottish-English speaking people ask random questions into it. It would answer things such as, "I don't know what you mean by." It was hilarious.

I'm a girl who finds foreign guys with accents to be cute. I wish that just for a few days some guy with a British accent would just walk into the school and have classes with me. I guess that will never happen. Sad face.

Are you one of the weird kids that every stares at in class? Do you giggle uncontrollably or always seem like you're in a daze? Do you have odd habits or ways of solving your various problems? Do you feel like looking in the mirror and shunning yourself to the rest of the world?

There are some steps that you can take to solve these many issues with even solving them to begin with. Here are some simple steps to help you:

1. You are beautiful. No matter what people may say, you have friends who will always stay by your side every time you need them. If they don't, they were not worthy of your friendship from the beginning.

2. Whenever I am down, artwork always manages to help me feel better! Even if you are not the Leonardo of the house, many appreciate artwork because it is fun and that it helps depression in various adults, teens, and children alike!

3. When they say "laughter is the best medicine," they mean it. Even if the joke's on you, feel free to laugh along if the subject of the matter is necessary.

4. Showing care for one another is also a key code to being yourself. Act's of kindness are never frowned upon and should never be. Visiting sick folks in a hospital or even donating to charities for good causes are always big acts of kindness.

5. Always be yourself! You may change some habits of your own, but keep the good qualities about you that people appreciate. Never give up and fight for what is your happiness as well as that of others.
